Life Upholds Life… Stay Rooted
Take a board of wood and relive where it came from.
This board started off as a tree. That strong, rooted to the earth tree was cut down.
It eventually ended up in the hands of humans in a ‘separate’ bustling factory before it materialized in transit among a fleet of semi-trailers to its almost final destination.
This piece of wood finds its home as a fascia board adjoining the roof of a new house… it’s there to stay…
… but not without a constant agenda.
Observe this board’s early days, after it was uprooted from its source, and you’ll notice much toil and attention went into the preservation of this board of wood.

It was treated with a special liquid formula to prevent wood rot. It was coated to turn away insects that would otherwise deteriorate its existence.
It was cut, bent, twisted in some cases to fit any portion of the home… before it was nailed, glued, sealed into its place. Then the primer went on and two coats of the best weather seal to restrain mother nature.
Still, in order to survive, this board is at the mercy of its new owners to continually maintain, repaint, pressure-wash, and recaulk. If they waiver, the board is at risk of rotting to death!
Now, let’s rewind to before the board was a ‘separate’ piece.
You Are One With The Whole…
Before it was unraveled and transformed into construction material, it wasn’t a board at all. It was whole… it was strong and content as a healthy, mature tree.

Think about what a tree really IS for a moment.
The tree is part of “The Whole”… It doesn’t stress, toil… it never “hustles” to make a name for itself. It never needs treating, painting, sealing in order to survive.
This tree actually isn’t a separate piece of anything.
It’s attached to the earth – in essence, a part of the whole. Strongly rooted in its source.
And, essentially, its source is the essence of who it IS…
Words only diminish the profoundness of how this tree is protected… how it is given nutrients from its essence… how the soil, the rain, the sun, the air… is all there to effortlessly sustain, grow, nurture, serve and help carry out its purpose.
What are we doing with OUR lives?

At the outset, we were introduced to this world in the same fashion as this tree… before we turned into the board.
As adults, many of us are stressed. We think we are so special that we must “coat” ourselves with “activities” to protect our being.
As adults, we feel we must mold ourselves, with our own effort, in order to stay ahead of the competition.
Our thoughts are identical to the perceived maintenance of the fascia board… put there, we think, to constantly work, grind, chase… the money, the status, the protection, the security we think will make us happy… to stay alive.
It’s a true rat-race that makes us tired. It drives us to our death before we die. It’s all a distraction from who we really are.

If you and I would only be. Like the tree. We would know now, that life upholds life.
What a peculiar statement.
Life upholds life?
What is life?
Think about the tree once more. The tree and the earth. Although, seemingly separate… are whole. To the core, they are both one.
YOU… and Life (some call it the universe) are not meant to be separate. Our thoughts create the separateness that is choking your existence.
Your fear of the future and regret of the past is distracting you from the fact that you are already one with life.
There’s nothing wrong with trying to improve our “world”… but this must be secondary.

And when a shift in consciousness from being dead to life… to awakening to what truly IS emerges… like the tree, life takes care of you. Things seem to fall in place. Struggles and challenges are still there, but they seem to work themselves out. You have a deep sense of peace in the background.
You’re rooted. You’re anchored. You’re not distracted anymore.
How do you find this anchor? How do you stay rooted? Does all of this seem like an unreachable star?

Like the tree, you don’t have to “reach” for anything. You don’t have to exert any effort to free yourself. There’s no searching, trying, practicing, striving needed.
Like the tree, the truth is already a part of you. You’re not separate from this truth. You’re already whole with your true self…
… which is why Life upholds Life itself.
